That’s why we’re excited to announce our strategic partnership with Otto Kalkum & Söhne GmbH & Co. KG (OKS), a respected name in Nordrhein-Westfalen packaging industry and a valuable addition to the PalletBiz Network.
A Legacy of German Craftsmanship Since 1899
OKS isn’t just another packaging company. With roots stretching back to 1899, this family-owned manufacturer has spent over 127 years perfecting the art of wooden packaging solutions. Their specialty? Custom-designed industrial and export packaging for heavy machinery, sensitive equipment, and complex logistics challenges.
What makes OKS stand out is their approach. They don’t believe in one-size-fits-all solutions. Instead, they work closely with clients to create tailored packaging that protects high-value cargo during international transport.
Shared Values, Shared Vision
The partnership between PalletBiz and OKS makes sense on multiple levels, one of them – we share a similar DNA. Both companies are family-owned, and both understand the value of building something that lasts.
PalletBiz itself started from humble beginnings – founded by Jens Jorgen Gents in a small Lithuanian garage. What began as one man’s vision has grown into an EMEA based network, guided by leaders who’ve never forgotten where we came from. Thomas Gents, a group COO, notes about this partnership: “When we sat down with the team at OKS, we immediately recognized kindred spirits – people who build businesses with integrity, think long-term, and value relationships over quick wins.“
A Partnership That Makes Practical Sense
This isn’t just a philosophical alignment. The operational synergies are significant and immediate.
As part of our cooperation agreement, OKS has relocated its operations to PalletBiz’s spacious production facility in Schwelm, Germany – just a few kilometers from their previous location.
OKS’s product portfolio aligns remarkably well with what we already produce at our Schwelm site. This overlap means we can combine technical expertise, share resources, and offer customers an even broader range of wooden packaging solutions without starting from scratch.
What This Means for Our Network
For the PalletBiz Network, welcoming OKS represents more than just increased capacity. We’re gaining:
